My Art Philosophy

My art is an experiment with color. I have some traditional stuff, no doubt, but I am really fascinated by how colors create the illusion of the elements of design, being point, line, form, shape, space, movement, texture, pattern, and value. And if I am forgetting anything or I have something in there that shouldn't be there, let me know. Although an ultimate goal for many artists is to be able to reproduce, as accurately as possible, what they are seeing (I believe the term is photo-realism), I do not strive for that. I would love to be able to paint what I see as if I was a camera, and I certainly do strive for accuracy in the principles, like balance and proportion, but I believe in the influence of the sun on what we see everyday and I try to capture the colors that create what we are seeing. I guess it is impressionistic. If you want a scene to be as accurate as possible, get a camera. If you want an artistic interpretation of scene, then I'll paint it.
